Revolve Celebrates The Success Of The First Ever Podcamp Halifax

When you don't know exactly how to do something, do you give up before you even start or do you try to figure it out along the way and see where you end up?

In the fall of 2008, Revolve jumped at the chance to help create a first for Atlantic Canada: Podcamp Halifax.


Along with volunteers from the Halifax Public Libraries and SpiderVideo, we secured sponsorship, high-profile speakers, and over twenty presentations designed to engage, inform and entertain audiences interested in social media. Although none of the organizers had in fact ever attended a Podcamp, the dedicated team pushed onward, determined to put a fresh spin and distinct brand on what could become a nationally recognized conference.

So where did we end up? The free, full-day event held on January 25, 2009 attracted over 160 guests, paid for itself in sponsorship, spurred the creation of dozens of videos and blog entries and a vibrant presence on Twitter. The audience was diverse in age, industry and level of knowledge but shared a common excitement for the cutting edge trends of social media and the opportunity to connect with likeminded individuals.

Thanks to Revolve's involvement and sponsorship, the Podcamp Halifax brand benefitted from a logo, blog and sought after t-shirts and posters. We look forward to building on such a successful first year and playing a key role in the future of Podcamp Halifax.
